Synopsis/Details

The Klein family heads to rural Pennsylvania for the summer so Michelle can finish her latest book at her parents’ newly renovated house. Her younger daughter Savannah, a fearless livestream addict, and older daughter Alexis, skeptical and guarded, immediately clash over the trip. But what begins as ordinary family friction turns sinister when Savannah spots a shadow in the woods, wanders onto Shades of Death Trail, and discovers a series of strange gates hidden deep in the forest. After she and later Alexis pass through the gates, both girls experience a predatory darkness that whispers their names, stalks them back to camp, and follows them home. As Michelle is haunted inside the house by visions of a drowned blonde girl, it becomes clear that the land — and the family — are tied to an older tragedy.

The family learns that Michelle nearly drowned at the same camp as a child, while her sister Samantha was lost forever. When a mysterious survivor named Naomi Winters reenters their lives, she reveals that the girls reopened the seventh gate — a portal tied to the land’s buried dead and the darkness feeding on them. As the house becomes spiritually compromised and the family fractures over what is real, Michelle is forced to confront the memories she buried, Frank must finally accept the danger threatening his daughters, and Naomi leads them in a desperate attempt to reseal the gates. At the threshold of the final gate, sacrifice, grief, and maternal love collide as Michelle faces Samantha’s corrupted spirit and fights to free her, save her daughters, and close the portal before it consumes another generation.
