Synopsis/Details
Voodoo. Violence. Vengeance.
The Confederates have claimed victory. The Union army was crushed with the help of the mysterious general Harper Dixon.
Our story follows Brutus, a slave who killed his master and was executed by a Confederate raiding party led by General Dixon. They took his wife and child. Upon death, Brutus is greeted by Baron Samedi-- the Voodoo god of Death and Resurrection. Brutus strikes a bargain with him: kill Dixon, and his life is returned to him. Fail, and be damned forever. Brutus agrees.
When Brutus attempts to slit Dixon's throat, however, he realizes that he's fallen headlong into a game between gods, and the stakes are high. As the Confederates close in on a hidden town of escaped slaves in the swamps around New Orleans, Brutus must work with unlikely allies to save his family.
A resurrected slave with supernatural powers, a traitorous riverboat gambler with an enigmatic connection to Dixon, and a Voodoo High Priestess leading a secret city find themselves the only thing standing between the Confederate States of America and their goal of complete domination of North America.
