Synopsis/Details
Brajko Ivanec has just escaped the clutches of the Nazi soldiers in Austria. His first decision is to rescue his family and get them out of this terrorized place. His wife Lena is a loving mother, determined for her children's lives. She and her husband escape to Toronto, Canada, nearly killed along the way. As they begin to start a new life in Toronto, Brajko's new life begins to burden him. He is not accepted because he is not from the same country, and the fear of being deported back to Austria always lurks around them. Their children start school, and are not accepted anywhere. It feels like the world is crashing around them. But no matter the circumstance or the cost, the Ivanec's remain a strong-knit family. They desperately pray that life will not separate them.
All Accolades & Coverage

People who have read this have been overcome by emotion and depth. They have told me that it deserves to be shown to the world. I believe stories of immigrants need to be shared with the world. I do not want to settle for a small, cheap company to produce this. I want it to be big so it can reach millions. I know I have it not for sale, but if you are a major producer or whoever working for a world-famous film company please let me know if you are interested. Immigrants matter and I will not settle for anything less until their lives are valued equally to anyone else.

The Writer: Emma Sumlin

I am a screenwriter with big dreams. I want to act, but I also love the art of storytelling and drawing an audience into a true circumstance, or the beauty of your imagination. I think the beauty of storytelling is changing someone's perspective of what they thought they understood. If you are interested in one of my screenplays, send me a message and I'd love to consider!
