Getaway
Not your usual cabin in-the-woods movie. Actually … maybe, it is.
Ever planned a Getaway - but while you’re settling in, you realize you should’a had a staycation by yourself?
That happens in horror movies constantly. What begins as an idyllic and often frisky frolic in the woods monstrously spirals into something far worse.
As Ben and Paula are about to find out. Seemingly having just cut the tags off their shopping spree at Cabela’s sporting goods, the loving couple arrive at the forest cabin they’ve rented for the weekend:
666 Laughter Lane.
Wait-a-minute. Ben left off the “S”.
Make that “666 Slaughter Lane.” Well, no worries – typo fixed!
The duo remains super-excited to not be tied down to the internet and work. They’ve earned this respite, after all. This weekend is all about them. What could possibly go wrong?
Hmmmm. Well, there’s that piece of paper nailed to the door. Scribbled on it: “Run”. Written in red. Could it be blood? Gee, that’s odd.
Once inside, the warning signs strobe even more: The power’s out. From a window, there’s a terrific view of “Blood Lake”. A cemetery, too. A crow caws as two female twins push an old stroller between headstones. Which Ben and Paula declare is “cute.”
Have these two never seen a horror flick? How oblivious can a couple get?
And what will wake up these two potential victims enough to bolt?
Trust us, writer Nat Miles' twist on the slasher sub-genre within the horror genre is bloody and delightfully witty, too. Getaway is sure to be a fan-favorite at any horror film festival. Read the script and find out!
