Synopsis/Details
WENDY'S WITCHINGLY WICKED WEEKEND is a supernatural horror-romance set against the backdrop of Johns and Wakes University, where the boundaries between innocent infatuation and dangerous obsession blur with fatal consequences. The film blends the emotional intensity of THE CRAFT with the college-set thrills of HAPPY DEATH DAY, delivering both genuine scares and an emotionally resonant cautionary tale about the price of forbidden desires.
WENDY FLETCHER, a twenty-year-old practicing Wiccan with gothic sensibilities and genuine magical abilities, has spent her life hiding her powers from a world that wouldn't understand. When she arrives at Johns and Wakes University for summer orientation, she meets CRYSTAL ANAND, a kind-hearted young woman who becomes her first true friend—and eventually her moral compass.
Wendy's carefully controlled existence shatters when she literally collides with LANCE BOWMAN, a charismatic Black football player struggling to maintain his athletic scholarship while failing calculus. Their accidental meeting ignites an immediate, overwhelming attraction—at least on Wendy's part. Lance already has a girlfriend, the jealous and possessive ALISON RHYNE, whose wealthy family has significant influence over the university.
When Lance asks Wendy to tutor him in calculus, she agrees despite Crystal's warnings about Alison's vindictive nature. Their tutoring sessions become charged with unspoken tension, and Wendy finds herself falling deeper into infatuation. Convinced that Lance shares her feelings but is trapped by his relationship with Alison, Wendy makes a fateful decision: she will use magic to make him hers.
Wendy visits YE OLDE MYSTICISM SHOPPE, an occult store run by HAZEL GROTT, an 87-year-old crone who appears to be a harmless eccentric but is actually a powerful Bane Witch who has spent decades serving demonic masters. Hazel recognizes Wendy's potential and gives her a mysterious talisman—an ancient artifact containing a shard of a dark god. The talisman amplifies Wendy's powers dramatically but begins corrupting her soul.
As Wendy's powers grow, so does her obsession. Crystal watches in horror as her friend transforms from a quirky outcast into someone dangerous and unrecognizable. Meanwhile, MANFRED SLOAN, an awkward but good-hearted young man with an obvious crush on Wendy, begins to suspect something supernatural is occurring. When Crystal confides her fears to Manfred, they form an unlikely alliance to save their friend.
Tragedy strikes when Lance, participating in a dare involving climbing a massive oak tree, is attacked by demonic imps sent by Hazel. He falls to his death, his body broken on the ground below. Wendy is devastated—her chance at love seemingly destroyed forever.
Consumed by grief and desperation, Wendy turns to the darkest magic imaginable: resurrection. Hazel exploits Wendy's vulnerability, guiding her through forbidden rituals while secretly pursuing her own agenda. Rather than restoring Lance's soul, Hazel uses the ritual to summon BELLUS, the Chaos Demon—an ancient evil entity that takes possession of Lance's corpse.
Wendy, blinded by her desire, initially believes Lance has returned to her. The demon wearing Lance's face plays along, manipulating her emotions while Hazel prepares for the final phase of her plan: using the collected souls of Wendy, Crystal, and others to fully manifest Bellus in our world, bringing about a demonic judgment upon humanity.
Into this chaos steps PROFESSOR MATHER, a seemingly ordinary folklore professor who is revealed to be far more than he appears. Mather is an angelic guardian who has tracked Hazel's coven for decades, and he recognizes in Manfred the potential to wield the SANCTUM ARTIFACT—an ancient holy device that chooses its bearer and grants them the power to combat supernatural evil.
The climax takes place in Hazel's occult shop, where multiple battles rage simultaneously. Professor Mather confronts Hazel in a spectacular display of angelic versus demonic power. Manfred, wielding the Sanctum Artifact despite his self-doubt, battles the demon Bellus. And Crystal desperately tries to reach Wendy, appealing to their friendship to break through the corruption.
Crystal's words finally pierce Wendy's denial: "Lance is dead! He's been dead for two days! That thing is not Lance—it's a demon wearing his body!" The revelation shatters Wendy's illusions. Enraged at Hazel's betrayal, Wendy turns against her former mentor, striking her down with a candlestick in a moment of violent redemption.
Manfred channels the Sanctum Artifact's full power, and together with Professor Mather's banishing spell, they begin forcing Bellus back to hell. But the demon will not go quietly—as the portal opens to drag Bellus back to the underworld, the demon grabs both Wendy and Hazel, pulling them through as the shop erupts in flames.
Professor Mather, having expended his power, reveals his true angelic nature before fading away, his mission complete. "Live, Manfred," he says simply. "Simply live." He leaves behind the Sanctum Artifact, now permanently bonded to Manfred's wrist, and a warning: "The fight has only begun."
As Manfred and Crystal escape the burning building, they find themselves changed forever—survivors of a supernatural war that the world around them will never know occurred. The film ends with them watching the flames consume Hazel's shop, holding each other for comfort, while in the final shot, Manfred looks down at the Sanctum Artifact glowing faintly on his wrist—a promise that their story is far from over.
