Synopsis/Details
Col. Elias Franklin is the only survivor of a paranormal investigation into the Brady estate. His three co-workers all died violently, and Franklin's mind has been destroyed.
Henry Jarvis, who is to lead the next investigatory team, seeks out Franklin for advice. The Colonel eventually suggests that he could be hypnotically regressed to remember everything that happened in the estate, which he has forgotten because of hysterical amnesia. Under hypnosis, Franklin remembers his friends' deaths, oceans of body part-littered blood pouring down the stairs, and hellish, smoldering beasts.
Through an autopsy of a dead co-worker of Franklin's, it is learned that whatever is in the estate drives people to their deaths by projecting hellish, frightening images into their brains. Franklin has some limited immunity because of a daily anti-depressant he takes.
A doctor at the asylum where Franklin is now living is able to find a drug that can temporarily deaden Jarvis's receptors, giving him some temporary immunity. Hopeful it will work, Jarvis enters the estate. The ghost of Mr. Brady tries to frighten him to death, as he did the others, but it doesn't work.
Franklin, escaping from the asylum, rushes to the estate. He dares Brady to take him over - which the ghost does. With a specially designed piece of equipment, Franklin is able to trap Brady in his body and then commit suicide, killing them both.
