Synopsis/Details
Veronica has Jasper right where she wants him — literally. The impossibly handsome, chiseled specimen is hanging upside down, wrists and ankles bound, while she circles him with the quiet menace of a woman who has been lied to one too many times. Jasper, to his credit, remains almost unnervingly calm, splitting hairs between "lying" and "not telling the whole truth" with the kind of technicality that never, ever works on an angry partner.
The argument is familiar enough — betrayal, omission, the courage it takes to be honest with someone you love — until Veronica produces a claw hammer and things take a sharp left turn. One brutal, well-placed swing to the back of his skull later, and the mystery of Jasper's impossible perfection is solved: he's a robot. A very attractive, anatomically impressive robot with a microchip where his brainstem should be.
But Veronica isn't heartbroken for long. After a lingering, appreciative look at what she's losing, a thought crosses her mind. Why throw out a perfectly good man just because he needs a little... reprogramming? One quick Google search and a call to the local computer repair shop later, and Veronica is back in business. The heart wants what it wants — even if it needs a software update.
