Synopsis/Details
Lizzie (6) is caught by her father staying up late reading her book by torchlight in bed. He tells her she needs to go to sleep, but she replies she isn’t tired. He warns her if she doesn’t, the Tockywomp will get her. Lizzie asks what the Tockywomp is. He explains it’s a monster that only comes out at night after 9 o’clock, but it doesn’t like to be seen. If Lizzie were to see it, it would take her away. Lizzie puts her book and torch away and forces her eyes shut. Her father leaves the room smiling.
The next day is filled with hot summer weather causing Lizzie to stay hydrated throughout. That night she wakes busting for the toilet. She looks around her room and finds no sign of the Tockywomp believing it to be safe. She climbs out of bed and creeps over to the door. She pulls it open and checks the hallway is clear before making her way to the bathroom.
Lizzie exits the bathroom feeling much relieved and returns to her bedroom. But upon reaching the door hears a noise within. She pushes the door open and screams at what she sees inside. Lizzie’s mother and father come rushing from their bedroom to find Lizzie has gone. Lizzie’s father laments that it has happened again. Lizzie’s mother questions didn’t he warn Lizzie about the Tockywomp. He says he did trying desperately to comfort his wife.
