Synopsis/Details
When compassionate carer Josie takes on a new assignment looking after elderly Victor Hall, she expects nothing more than a routine few days of medication schedules and gentle companionship.
This frail 70-something is a shadow of his former self - suffering from severe amnesia following a traumatic brain injury, wandering at night, struggling with simple tasks, and clinging to fragments of his past in 1960s London.
But Josie harbours a dark secret of her own.
Armed with old photographs and a burning desire for justice, she's not here by chance and Victor isn't just any patient... he's the notorious "Beast of Belsize," a convicted serial killer responsible for the deaths of numerous children, including Josie's ten-year-old aunt Sarah, who disappeared during the scorching summer of 1976.
As Josie systematically reveals Victor's horrific past, confronting him with images of his young victims, she believes she's finally delivering the justice that the legal system failed to provide.
With Victor seemingly helpless and dying from a carefully administered overdose, revenge appears within her grasp.
However, in this isolated house with its overgrown garden and mysterious locked shed, nothing is quite as it seems. When the tables turn in the most shocking way possible, Josie discovers that some monsters never truly die and that the past has a way of reaching out with deadly consequences.
A chilling psychological thriller that asks: what happens when justice and vengeance collide?
