Synopsis/Details
Jackie Velasquez, a private investigator and army veteran, is called to the scene of a fatal car wreck -- immediately, she recognizes the victim as Marisol Cordova, a client who had hired her prior. Suspecting foul play, Jackie investigates and learns Marisol was employed at Hughes Enterprises, a multibillion dollar communications company founded by Alan Hughes, an influential business executive. Secretly, Hughes is at the center of a massive cocaine trafficking operation, which he runs with his right-hand man Dillon Castillo, a brutal and psychopathic security agent.
Jackie is warned against investigating Hughes by Det. Vanessa Lee, her liaison at the Santa Cruz Police Department; she receives threatening letters in the mail. Nevertheless, Jackie pursues her investigation, going so far as to confront Hughes at his mansion in Salinas. But when she refuses to cease, her truck is rigged with a bomb, and her wife, Asha Yogeswaran, is killed in the explosion. To make matters worse, Jackie has her P.I. license and badge revoked.
Stripped of her authority and forced into hiding, Jackie grows vengeful over her wife’s murder, and soon becomes more determined than ever to nab Hughes. She leads a brutal trek into Santa Cruz’s criminal underworld, and with the help of Andy Sanchez, a male escort and Castillo’s scorned lover, seeks retribution and answers. But with a massive drug deal on the line, it is only a matter of time before Hughes retaliates -- and it’ll be harder than last time.
