Synopsis/Details
SUMNER FALLS Genre: Crime Drama / Mystery Pilot Screenplay by Michael S. Parsons Nestled on the shores of Cape Cod, the town of Sumner Falls is a place where history lingers, old rivalries fester, and the past never stays buried. When James “Jumpin’ Jimmy” Sumner, a disgraced former MLB pitcher and convicted murderer, is released from prison after thirty years, he returns home to reclaim his life—but his homecoming is anything but welcome. His older brother Lawrence Sumner, the town’s bitter patriarch, wants nothing to do with him. Mel Barnes, a sharp-witted deputy sheriff and James’ nephew’s wife, isn’t convinced of his innocence. And as James steps back into the town’s rhythms, he discovers that some sins—like the disappearance of his wife, Lillith, whose body was never found—are wounds that refuse to heal. Meanwhile, tensions brew in Sumner Falls. Brian Sumner, James’ nephew, struggles to escape the long shadow of his family name, his once-promising baseball career now reduced to coaching the local Cape Cod league team. A violent young man with dangerous connections lurks in the background, and the powerful Kelly family, led by the ruthless Alderman Sam Kelly, manipulates the town with a vice grip. When a mysterious woman falls from the sky—naked, terrified, and seemingly out of nowhere—onto the baseball field in the middle of a storm, Sumner Falls is thrown into a whirlwind of scandal, deception, and the supernatural. As old rivalries reignite and dark secrets begin to surface, James and Mel find themselves drawn into a tangled web of corruption, small-town politics, and buried truths that could shake Sumner Falls to its core. Equal parts crime drama, slow-burn mystery, and generational tragedy, SUMNER FALLS is a gripping, character-driven series about redemption, revenge, and the price of the past.
