Synopsis/Details
In a little town, deep in the country, there was a strawberry farm, and on that farm there lived a strawberry farmer named Amelia Wickamore. Amelia had been making jam her whole life and it was the best jam you’ve ever tasted— well almost the best. She won second prize every year in the state fair, never quite made first place until... One night as she stirs her latest batch of jam over the stove, her water breaks. The midwife arrives and delivers the baby, but there are no newborn cries. Another stillborn. The midwife urges Amelia to rest after the long delivery, but Amelia is desperate to rock her dead baby to sleep. And when the midwife tries to take the corpse from her arms, Amelia stabs the midwife in the jugular. The midwife’s body was never found. That year Amelia took home first prize for her strawberry jam. It was the sweetest jam she’s ever made. Now, thirty years later, 18 year-old “girl next door” Whitney and her closest friends are about to have a weekend getaway in the country. It’s been a rough few weeks for Whitney, she struggles after recently having an abortion. A fact that boyfriend, Kai isn’t too sensitive about and best friend, boy-crazy Jenna loves to rub in her face. Whitney’s cousin Hayden, who recently came out of the closet, though you would never guess; Shae, the bible-thumping kleptomaniac, and stoner Zac, who found the cabin online, complete the group of six. Things are off to a great start with some drinking games... that is until a jar of homemade strawberry jam shows up at the cabin doorstep and sparks the idea for everyone to break into the strawberry farm across the street... Amelia’s strawberry farm. After their night of fun, the gang wakes to find that Shae is missing. As such, they split up to look for her...not knowing that meanwhile deep, down in the basement of Amelia’s farmhouse, Shae’s body is getting drained of blood, three cups go in every batch of jam. Then, her body parts are cut up and her skin, bones and cartilage are boiled down to make human gelatine. Amelia’s secret thickening agent. When more of Whitney’s friends end up dead or missing, Whitney finds herself alone... and must make it out of the farmhouse alive before she becomes the ultimate ingredient in Amelia’s jam... Because pretty girls make it sweeter.
