Space Race: Induction

At the International Space Command Centre, a room full of bantering big wigs attempts to make ends of a cryptic message delivered by their unknown alien neighbors. DR TROVE, the Pluto Mission commander is nearing retirement and has no intention of letting anyone else take the credit for mission success. JOE, a very intelligent man in his 30’s is the lead analyst responsible for solving the cryptic alien message. Unintentional as it may be, Joe just can’t find favor in Dr. Trove’s eyes. Under Dr. Trove’s oppressive thumb, Joe finds inspiration in his girlfriend, JILLIAN, who happens to be Dr. Troves assistant. Jillian is a passionate, driven young woman whose love for Joe may soon outgrow her love for space exploration. The busy room of squabbling leaders is suddenly silenced when 3 alien beings beam directly into their conference room. Mankind’s search for life off world is answered with a to the point proposition: “... it is in your best interest to participate in this 1200th space race with the construction and operation of Checkpoint 97”. With no time to consider the consequences, Earths leaders are tempted by the prospects of all their imagined interstellar dreams coming true. With Earth sold out to a deal with the Interstellar Territorial Confederacy, they are granted assistance to build a checkpoint for an interstellar space race. To sweeten the deal, Earth can keep the space station and use it for interstellar trade. Dr. Trove loses his grip of Joe when the aliens choose Joe over him to lead the project, fueling Dr. Trove’s desperate reach for power. Now free from his grip, Joe, driven by his love for Jillian and his own fervent nature, flourishes into a true leader. Joe is placed under the guidance of PELA, a tall, female LIHR-TIH alien and the protection of WAHTHRON, a strong, large alien male and Pela’s First Guard. As the leaders three, they assign the under-utilized crew of the CHINONSO moon base to get the project underway with the help of an entire ITC construction fleet. With the run down Chinonso base now upgraded and buzzing with activity, construction of the new Checkpoint is begun under the skillful leadership of Joe and Pela with the Chinonso team. When, half way through its construction, an apparently stray spaceship crashes into the checkpoint, the ITC aliens are pressured to reveal a secret threat to the project even they don’t fully realize. The KAHL, an old enemy of the ITC wants to take over the checkpoint and oppress humankind but it must gain control before the Space Race is complete. The Kahl threat is taken more seriously by Earth than the ITC leading to the militarization of the checkpoint. Earths confidence in the ITC is soon tested when the Kahl begin a relentless offensive to take the checkpoint. Time and again, the Kahl send scouts and probes to test the checkpoints defenses until JUNIOR, a teenage girl-genius from the Chinonso team, works out how to stop the probes. Successful in stopping the Kahl attacks, the interstellar Space Race reaches Checkpoint 97. Earth joins hundreds of other worlds in following the Space Race with human and alien media providing 24/7 coverage. Favorites are picked and merchandise floods the world as all manner of alien beings in one of a kind racing ships begin to dock at the checkpoint. Just as the race begins to reach Earth, one Kahl infiltrates and sabotages the checkpoint and before long, all hell breaks loose. As C-97 is overrun by the Kahl, Joe and Albert fight their way through the space battle in a desperate attempt to make it to the moon base. The remaining ITC ships abandon the checkpoint, conceding defeat, leaving Earth at the mercy of the Kahl. As Joe and the team prepare to save Jillian, a plethora of Kahl motherships arrive at Earth and Jyah-La, not being one for ITC rules, orders ‘the grid’ to be formed around Earth. Before mankind can deploy its defenses, the Kahl grid hits the planet with a global EMP wave. The world in a moment, once glorified with technological progress is returned to the silence of the dark ages.
