Synopsis/Details
Giulio lives alone in an old house in the Apennines, surrounded by dust, silence, and memories. Terminally ill, he spends his days rummaging through the attic and carefully decorating a Christmas tree out of season — as if staging one last moment of beauty before the end. When Stefano, his estranged son, returns after years of silence and resentment, the past erupts. The two clash: accusations, unspoken family wounds, and above all, a plea for help. Stefano is a compatible donor for a bone marrow transplant, but Giulio refuses treatment.
Through continuous time shifts between a decaying present and black-and-white memories from twenty years earlier, The Soul of Three tells the story of a family marked by loss, silence, and a quiet love that left too many wounds. The bond with Chiara, the late mother, becomes the emotional core — the weight of her tears, the void she left behind, and the unspoken guilt that lingers.
The Soul of Three is an intimate and poignant drama about the passage of time, things left unsaid, and what remains — or could still remain — between a father and son when every word seems too late, but saving each other might still be possible.
