Synopsis/Details
SLOW-MOTION CAR CRASH, an anti-romantic-comedy in eight chapters: Ishmael, (25), aspiring writer and all-round kind of shitty guy, is dumped by his actor boyfriend-of-three-years Charlie for Patience, who is young (21), beautiful, and a genuinely good person. Ishmael is devastated and does everything but stalk the new couple out of jealousy and resentment. When he is staffed as a junior writer for a new "prestige streaming" TV show, Ishmael's delight is tempered by realizing Patience has been cast as the show's main female character and they must work together. Patience's genuine attempts to befriend her co-worker Ishmael only offers Ishmael the opportunity to get back into Charlie's life - and Ishmael only has his dignity and shame to stop him (which is to say, nothing will stop him).
