Synopsis/Details
An unseen man washes a dead, young woman’s body in a basement bathtub, making sure there’s no trace evidence. He puts her in a body bag, lugs her up a beaten path to a cave, and dumps her body inside.
In a dense forest, AMBRA PETERS (21, girl-next-door in a wheelchair), plays a hiding game with her boy-next-door clean-cut boyfriend, JOSS (23). Over the radio an announcer says this is the one-year anniversary of a co-ed going missing. No leads.
Ambra and Joss return to their cottage surrounded by forest. A Lamborghini pulls up with Joss’ friend, spoiled-brat jock FOWLER (23) inside with his pixie hipster girlfriend CLEA (20). They have decided to stay, unannounced, with Joss at his cottage for the weekend. Ambra is upset with Fowler and Clea intruding on her private weekend with Joss, but Joss tells Ambra that Fowler is his best friend and he can’t say no to him. That night, Joss suggests to Ambra that they go spelunking (cave exploring) the next day, just the two of them. Ambra is afraid she won’t be able to cope with the physical demands. Joss shows her he got her a decked-out hiking chair with harness. Fowler finds out and demands he and Clea be taken along, much to Ambra’s chagrin.
The group treks out. Before entering the cave, Fowler tries to plunge a hunting knife into Ambra. Ambra is distracted and inadvertently dodges out of the way. Ambra realizes wheels away into the surrounding brush, hiding, scared and confused. Joss, Clea and Fowler pursue Ambra on ATVs. Ambra is now deep in the forest where the ATVs can’t reach (too dense). Fowler finds Ambra who fights back, throwing a giant rock at him causing him to fall down a hill. Back at the cabin, Fowler and Joss arm themselves with crossbows and walkie-talkies and head out to kill Ambra before she can reach town and alert authorities. Meanwhile, in the forest, there’s nowhere to hide except for on top of a tree. When Joss is under Ambra, the tree branch breaks and she falls on him, disarming. Fowler from behind shoots arrows at Ambra. She quickly crawls to her wheelchair and wheels away, but the only option she has is to wheel off a 150 foot cliff. She harnesses herself in and pushes her wheelchair off, landing hard, but escaping Fowler.
Ambra cannot make it back to town without getting caught, but she sneaks back to the cottage to get supplies like kerosene, rope, matches, knife. Clea explains that they hunt girls every year. Joss does it to see if he can get away with it; Fowler does it to satisfy a rape-murder fetish, and Fowler and Joss get hunting and double down on their pursuit. They reach Ambra who saws a tree halfway to fall on them. Ambra and Clea pushes the sawed tree on Fowler killing him. Ambra wheels away quickly, reaches a river and crosses. In the middle of crossing she falls off her chair and the current takes it away. She paddles by hand to the other side. Joss crosses to follow. Ambra submerges in the water, facing up, breathing out of a makeshift straw as Joss crosses back to the other side. Joss searches for Ambra on the wrong side of the river. Meanwhile, Ambra prepares an elaborate trap for Joss. She sharpens branches, cuts logs, pours kerosene on leaves. When she’s ready, she uses Fowler’s walkie-talkie to contact Joss making him a deal. If he comes to the site and kills Ambra, he wins. If he refuses, she’ll take Fowler’s cell phone, call 911 and have Joss arrested. Joss agrees to come. Joss falls into Ambra’s traps and is killed. Ambra dumps his body in the cave – the site of the death of the other victims. End.
