Synopsis/Details
THE STORY:
At dusk in a dense pine forest, Mark, a rugged survivalist in high-end tactical gear, films a vlog demonstrating how to secure a campsite. He sets up a "hasty perimeter" using high-tensile fishing line and tin cans filled with pebbles, explaining that the setup guarantees early warning by breaking noise discipline. Promising a dangerous winter bivy if his video hits 50,000 likes, Mark signs off with his catchphrase, "Be bold, be brave," and goes to sleep in his pitch-black tent.
In the dead of night, a sharp clatter from a can wakes Mark, instantly killing his influencer persona. Armed with a survival knife and a red-beam tactical flashlight, Mark steps outside and discovers his fishing line hasn't been tripped—it has been sliced perfectly clean.
Trapped back inside his unlit tent, Mark's vlogger mask shatters completely as the cans begin shaking in an impossibly fast 360-degree rotation around his shelter. After the chaotic rattling stops, a heavy silence falls. Driven by his tactical training, Mark cautiously unzips the tent and steps outside into the pitch black to clear the perimeter. Finding nothing in the suffocating silence, he retreats back inside and frantically seals the door tight. Let off the hook and believing he is finally safe, an exhausted Mark reaches out to kill the recording on his camera. As his hand nears the lens, the camera's mechanical auto-focus engages with a WHIR-CLICK, shifting focus to reveal the cut fishing line and tin cans meticulously re-strung inside the tent, dangling mere inches above his head.
CHARACTER PROFILE:
MARK (40s): Outfitted in muted tactical gear, he is a highly competent outdoor influencer who treats his campsite like a forward operating base. His arc strips him of his practiced, picture-perfect bravado, forcing him to confront a threat his training cannot stop.
TONE & COMPS:
A relentless, single-location pressure cooker that blends the stripped-down, isolated terror of The Blair Witch Project with the tactical, problem-solving survivalism of 10 Cloverfield Lane. The fear relies entirely on tension, sound design, and the horrifying subversion of a safe space.
COMMERCIAL HOOKS:
• The Found-Footage Evolution: Capitalizes on the familiar intimacy of a selfie-style vlog and flips it into a claustrophobic nightmare, using a static DSLR camera's mechanical auto-focus as the vehicle for the final, terrifying twist.
• Viral Hubris: Taps into modern content-creator culture by pitting a protagonist chasing "50,000 likes" against an ancient, primal threat.
• Authentic Tactical Dread: The script's dialogue is steeped in grounded operational reality—utilizing concepts like "noise discipline" and "avenues of approach"—making the protagonist’s transition from a rugged expert to a terrified victim deeply unsettling.
• Micro-Budget / High-Yield: A true contained thriller requiring exactly one actor, one primary location (a natural depression in a pine forest), and minimal props (a tent, fishing line, and tin cans). It is perfectly engineered for a low-cost, high-impact weekend shoot.
