Synopsis/Details
Kim Jong-un and Vladimir Putin spend a day fly-fishing together, and the scene plays as a two-man comedy of egos. Kim's fishing technique is hapless and his temper short; Putin is effortlessly, almost absurdly competent, catching fish bare-handed and biting their heads off for emphasis. Their banter escalates through a string of political jabs — Ukraine, missile tests, a Bering Strait submarine boast — each one a thin excuse for Putin to needle Kim's masculinity and Kim to bluster back about his "big missile."
It boils over when Kim, frustrated with a tangled line, pulls a handgun and shoots fish in the water rather than catch them properly — a punchline about his lack of sportsmanship that mirrors the running joke about his temperament. Putin lands an even bigger fish immediately after, prompting Kim to storm off in disgust while Putin eats his catch raw.
