Synopsis/Details
Damian Vonn — 43, a self-made investor and bestselling author of a book on reinvention — meets Lisa Piazzo, 32, a fabric designer dragged out for "one drink," at an exclusive Tribeca club. The pull between them is instant. Later, Damian brings Lisa to his Greenwich estate — string-lit gardens, blue, glowing fountains — and tells her about his late wife, Eleanor, and the loneliness of a house built for two. Then he tells her the rest: he wasn't always this person. He walked away from organized crime eleven years ago, money in hand, and has spent every year since trying to become someone worth being. He asks her to take a leap of faith — his private jet, a trip to Europe. She says yes.
In Rome, their romance blooms across the Colosseum, the Sistine Chapel, and a moonlit garden — until Damian's confession is overheard by Vito Salerno, his trainer who never forgave him for leaving. Surveillance tightens. A van full of watchers tracks their every move to a Tuscan villa. Damian calls on Danny Bavino, his old friend and vicious sniper, to protect Lisa while he tries to end his association with Vito on his own terms. A tense standoff at a Montalcino vineyard with Vito flanked by his last two men, Tomaso and Enzo, and Danny covering from a ridge — finishes in an uneasy truce. But Vito wants one more sit-down, and in Florence he offers Damian a deal: pay quietly, forever, or face war. Lisa refuses to let Damian live looking over his shoulder. They set the terms themselves — and Vito, furious at being outmaneuvered twice, ambushes Damian alone at a riverside park. A gunfight in the dark ends with Damian outflanking him and killing him at close range. Months later, back in Greenwich, Damian proposes to Lisa at the same fountains where he first told her the truth. They marry in the estate gardens — Danny as best man, Lisa's grandmother giving her tentative blessing, the whole cast of the journey gathered to watch Danny, who is not running from his past, but finally living openly in the light. The film closes on their honeymoon in Positano, dancing in a piazza.
