Synopsis/Details
“Happy Holi-DNA follows the intertwined lives of Meggie Pearson and Emily Miller, two accomplished young women who discover through DNA testing that they are long-lost sisters. Meggie, recently appointed assistant District Attorney, embarks on the DNA journey out of curiosity about her biological family. Emily, a newly married family counselor, also takes the DNA test on a whim, seeking a sense of direction in her career and personal life. To their surprise and excitement, both Meggie and Emily receive results indicating they have an unknown sister. Meggie, who has always wondered about her "real" family despite having wonderful adoptive parents, is thrilled at the prospect of a blood relative. Emily, coming from a conservative and close-knit family, is equally intrigued about her newfound sister. However, their journey towards sisterhood is not without its challenges. Emily must confront her parents about the revelation, leading to a family upheaval as her father reluctantly admits to having another daughter who was placed for adoption. The entire family grapples with the shock of this long-kept secret. Meanwhile, Meggie finds herself falling for Jake Johnson, a charismatic and intelligent newcomer to the Public Defender's office. Their initial courtroom rivalry blossoms into a romance that Meggie couldn't have anticipated. As the sisters plan their long-awaited meeting, Emily persuades her hesitant brother Trey to join them. Trey, still grappling with his anger towards their father's hidden secret, reluctantly agrees to meet his newfound half-sister. The tension rises when Meggie and Jake, unaware of their familial connection, discover they are actually Elizabeth and Trey, the subjects of the DNA family mix-up. Amidst the ensuing drama and comedic moments, Meggie, Emily, Trey, embark on a journey of self-discovery and acceptance. They learn that the Johnson family also harbors secrets that may shed light on their complicated situation. Set against a holiday backdrop, "Happy Holi-DNA" offers a light-hearted exploration of the intersection between modern science and the complexities of the modern American family.
