Synopsis/Details

The one-act play is set during the last days of the seige of Khartoum by the Mahdist forces.
The portayal of events studies the complex persona of General Charles Gordon and how he faced the final, desperate days awaiting the relief force.

The play has had a rehearsed reading and was well-received.

The lines in the longline are from a popular music hall ballad commemorating the death of General Gordon in 1885.
