Synopsis/Details
Jaida, a young painter, gets a new set of paints delivered to her apartment. However, when she opens up her new set, she goes into a strange, trance-like state.
Tammy, Jaida's best friend, decides to check up on her. She notices that Jaida seems a little obsessive about the new painting she's working on, which so far is just a rectangle of abstract colors. However, she doesn't feel like anything's out of the ordinary, and decides to leave Jaida to her work. Once Tammy is gone, Jaida notices a patch of color has appeared on her arm.
The next time Tammy checks on Jaida, the colors have spread. Tammy tries to clean it off, thinking it's paint, but realizes that it's actually a part of her skin. Not only that, but Jaida has begun acting noticeably strange. Tammy tries to reason with her and get her to step away from her art, but she refuses to budge.
Jaida continues painting her masterpiece, and the patches of color continue to spread. Tammy comes back wearing gloves and a mask, and forcibly starts taking all of Jaida's paints and art supplies. She tells her that this is for her own good, but when she turns to leave, Jaida smashes a mug of paint water over her head, knocking her out.
Jaida rushes to finish her painting, struggling to figure out the one detail she's missing. She finally figures it out, and uses metallic gold paint to paint a doorknob onto the rectangular shape in her painting. She touches her completed work, then everything goes black.
Tammy wakes up afterwards to find Jaida missing, and a black outline of her figure added to the painting.
