Synopsis/Details
Several years ago, the head of the Ministry of Culture Heritage and Activities, and Tourism in Italy was appraised by one of his deputies, Giovanni Romano, that he received information about a missing painting by Hitter himself that could contain some sort of cryptic message about hidden treasure. They had been through this many times before and the director was reluctant to put resources against it. During Romano’s further research, he unearthed a document that referenced the fact an important Hitler painting hadn’t been found. Now, the director decides to search for the painting and appoints Romano to make it happen. Knowing he has to find the right person to get the job done, he compiles a concise list of candidates. After investigating all the choices, he decides to approach Roger Dunbar, a former FBI agent and now a private instigator. The meeting goes well, and Roger who goes by Deuce Dunbar, a name he received from playing ridiculous tennis, takes on the job. One would think this type of thing could be kept secret, but the Israelis, in a hacking operation, find out about what the Italians are trying to do. This upsets the Israeli government, and they get the Mossad involved. They give the reigns to one of their top agents, Benjamin Minor. A former soldier, Minor is driven, and the top brass believes he won’t stop until he finds the painting and anything else it may reveal. A revered member of the Italian Mafia known as Saint Seneca becomes aware of the Italian government’s intentions. Convincing his girlfriend, Izzy Cortesi, to get involved, they set out on a mission to find the treasure whatever it might be. Senior members of the German government become involved as well. All concerned believe the painting hides a message that will lead them to a fortune of gold. Deuce finds the painting and a message that points to a hidden diary that belonged to Hitler. When informed, all the players believe the diary could lead them to a monetary reward until a tip suggests it could be a person. This sets the stage for a battle of brawn and brains that will eventually decide who comes up with the spoils. While this is going on, a British reporter is in Buenos Aries interviewing a woman he believes is Hitler’s daughter based on the dairy he possesses. Searching for lost items is never easy. There are miscues, false leads, confrontations between rival hunters, and always more than enough clues to confuse everyone concerned. In the end, nothing was as it seemed: three is no gold treasure, and the woman Bradford believes is Hitler’s daughter is not. The players realize it was a monumental effort in futility.
