Synopsis/Details
PAMELA MASON (29) is a beautiful blonde who has just married the man of her dreams: STEVEN MASON (mid-30s), a handsome sports magazine editor very much grounded in reality. Pamela doesn't have much time to enjoy wedded bliss, however, for she has a very stressful job at one of L.A.'s most popular restaurants. One day the stress of work becomes too much for Pamela, and she has a fainting spell. She's taken to the break room by her co-worker and best friend MARY TAYLOR (mid-20s).
While resting, Pamela has a surreal experience. She is summoned by ASHLEY (late-20s), a mysterious entity floating on the ceiling. Ashley wants to take Pamela to a very special place in her realm, and Pamela suddenly floats upwards toward Ashley. Before she can reach Ashley however, Pamela floats back down-to-earth. She calls Steven at his job at the sports magazine to come get her, and on the way home tells him of her "dream" of floating. Steven thinks it's a bunch of nonsense, and he doesn't want to talk about it. At the Masons' home Mary stops by to have a talk with Pamela. Mary tells Pamela that the "dream" she had the other day wasn't a dream; she then tells Pamela about astral projection, saying that Pamela was experiencing traveling to another plane of existence. Startled by the information, Pamela abruptly ends the conversation and asks Mary to leave.
Later, during a break from work, Mary encourages Pamela to go see SUZANNE TOWNSEND (early-50s), a spiritual counselor who specializes in the metaphysical. Pamela's reluctant at first, but she agrees to go see her. At Suzanne's office, Pamela tells Suzanne about her recent experience with astral travel. Suzanne hypnotizes Pamela into traveling to the astral plane.
Later that night, Suzanne uses the hypnotic spiral card she got from Suzanne to fall into a relaxed state. She sees Ashley again, and this time she meets up with her; the two of them travel to a mystical garden on Ashley's astral realm. When Steven comes home, he sees his wife in a catatonic state. He desperately tries to wake Pamela, who comes back down to Earth. Steven tells her not to scare him like that again. When he sees the hypnotic card, he starts asking her questions about her dabbling in hypnosis.
The next day Pamela visits Mary at her house, and the two of them meditate and travel with Ashley to the astral garden. When she gets back to her own house, Pamela sees a distraught Steven. He notices Suzanne's card, telling Pamela she's seen a "con artist". He wants her to stop taking these out-of-body trips, but Pamela has had a spiritual awakening. Angry, Steven leaves Pamela by herself.
At his sports magazine office, Steven has thoughts of his late grandmother, who was very much into meditation. He tells his co-worker TITO (mid-30s), a charming Latino man, about not wanting to deal with anything New Age since his grandmother died. Tito tells Steven that he shouldn't forget about his grandmother, and that he should be more open-minded towards Pamela's spiritual awakening. Taking the words to heart, Steven leaves his office early to see Pamela.
Steven finds Pamela at the beach on her 30th birthday, and he apologizes to her for his close-mindedness. He thinks of the best way to make it up to his wife: go see Suzanne Townsend with her. Suzanne offers to hypnotize Steven to experience astral travel for himself, and he agrees. Pamela and Steven are hypnotized into traveling to Ashley's astral garden. When they come back from the trip they wind up having a deeper love for each other. Harmony is restored, and Pamela and Steven start their regular time of meditation, and floating to paradise.
