Synopsis/Details
Fleeced! is a parody of the mythological tale of Jason and the Golden Fleece. In ancient Greece, the kingdom of Salonika is violently overthrown by the king's brother, Pelius. He does so, despite a soothsayer's prior warning that the current king's unborn son, Jason, will, in time, avenge his father's death. Zoey, queen to the late king of Salonika, aided by the gluttonous goddess, Hera, escapes the kingdom and lives incognito, in a nearby fishing village. Thirty years pass. Jason, a dreamer and idler, unaware of his royal heritage, lives with contentious Zoey and cannot hold the simplest of jobs. When Hera appears and informs Jason of his noble lineage, he doubts her veracity. Zoey, confronted by Jason, confirms Hera's tale, but openly doubts her lazy son's ability to fulfill the prophecy. Dejected Jason fortuitously meets Pelius and, not knowing his title, saves his life during a hunting accident. When Jason reveals his identity, Pelius conceals his own and offers advice on how Jason may recapture his lost throne. Pelius tells him of a golden fleece, possessing unimaginable powers, that is his for the taking, in the far-off land of Colchis. Stealing it and returning it to Salonika, Pelius claims, will assure Salonika's future prosperity and establish Jason as king. Pelius' cocky son, Coccus, will accompany Jason, as part of the crew, and will, according to Pelius' secret plan, make sure Jason never returns. Needing a crew to accomplish his quest, Jason assembles one by hosting competitive games. Winners are selected and joined by Hercules, who is well past his prime and in total denial of it. A ship is procured and outfitted with a figurehead of Hera, after whom the ship is named. Through it, the goddess confers with, and aids Jason on the voyage. Zoey, unbeknownst to Jason, stows away on the Hera, intent on offering her advice, belittling her son in front of the crew, and finding a mate. The voyage is beset with a series of hilarious perils, including the attack of a three-hundred-foot-tall bronze warrior with a nasty urinary tract infection. Good fortune befalls Jason when he rescues, at sea, Medea, the sorceress daughter of Aetes, King of Colchis. She guides Jason to her homeland, where her father is immediately suspicious of his intentions. At a banquet in Jason and his crew's honor, Aetes orders their capture and imprisonment. Medea, in love with Jason, aids his and the crew's escape. With her at his side, they steal the fleece, barely escaping being killed by its protective seventy-five-ton lobster. Aetes pursues the thieves and battles them with assistance from the Daughters of the Deep—beautiful but deadly women who are part crustacean. Jason and his clever warriors overcome their murderous opponents and secure possession of the fleece. Safe aboard the Hera, Jason, Medea and the surviving members of the crew set sail for Salonika, hopeful of restoring their homeland's greatness.
