Synopsis/Details
This four page short audio script Fatal Distraction was written based on the inspiration of Apple TVs Calls audio anthology which allows "audiences to experience short stories through real-life audio sources and minimal visuals." Fatal Distraction was also written as an entrant in the Simply Scripts, April 2021 challenge with the Theme of "Calls" The Challenge was to write a four page script involving: A conversation between two (or more) people - There can be multiple conversations, but each conversation has to be between two people at a time across an electronic device, cell/mobile, landline, walkie-talkie, ham radio, CB radio, intercom, Morse code, text, etc. Fatal Distraction tells the story of a young woman, Ava, who after losing her young baby to Forgotten Baby Syndrome while in her husband's care, has to make a choice whether to forgive him or not. It is told in non-linear fashion with various character viewpoints interjecting through phone and voice calls, thus making Ava's choice even more difficult. The audio narrative skips back and forth frantically in time to relay the chaotic retelling of the events of that day and the aftermath of the tragedy. *Each year, about 38 children die from being left unattended in a hot car, according to KidsAndCars.org, a national nonprofit focused on keeping children safe in and around vehicles. That's about one child every nine days. All in all, more than 900 children have lost their lives this way since 1990. https://www.parents.com/baby/safety/car/youd-never-forget-your-child-in-the-car-right/ Fatal Distraction is ultimately about forgiveness and love triumphing over tragedy.
