Synopsis/Details
Caroline Parker is a successful New York legal professional desperate for a break from the pressure and exhaustion of city life. Alongside her boyfriend Will Harris, she travels to Australia seeking adventure, freedom, and escape.
Their vacation quickly turns terrifying when Caroline is attacked by a massive shark while waterskiing off Cactus Beach. She survives only through a dramatic rescue operation that leaves her emotionally devastated.
But the nightmare is only beginning. As additional shark attacks occur across nearby beaches and marinas, marine biologist Dr. Emily Reed begins investigating strange behavioral patterns among the predators. Her research suggests that deep-water seismic testing connected to a powerful private corporation may be disrupting underwater migration systems and triggering increasingly aggressive shark activity.
When a research vessel is violently attacked and sunk offshore during a massive storm, the danger escalates into full-scale catastrophe. Survivors stranded at sea discover that damaged underwater transmitter equipment may still be emitting frequencies that continue drawing sharks directly toward human activity.
Forced into a desperate fight for survival, Caroline evolves from traumatized victim into courageous survivor as she joins Dr. Reed and Will in a race to stop the signal and escape the growing swarm of predators hunting them across open water.
The story builds toward a large-scale final confrontation inside Esperance Harbor where emergency crews attempt to trap and destroy a monstrous great white that has adapted to human movement and learned to associate engine vibrations with feeding opportunities.
