Synopsis/Details
Tom Harper is a successful manager at a hedge fund in the city, but the fund is not impervious to the crisis currently plaguing the financial sector. Cutbacks and layoffs are being made and Tom pleads the case to fire Kent Watkins. Kent is too “familiar” as Tom states it to his bosses. Tom wants him gone. This act sets off a chain of events that changes the Harper family forever. Nancy Harper lives the life many people dream of - three kids, large house in an affluent suburb and a large bank account. Only it’s built on lies and borrowed money. Nancy struggles through her life to find her place in it. The doting wife, loving mother, the master manipulator – All of it played well, but no roles truly make Nancy feel like she belongs. A stranger in her own life. Years earlier, when Tom suffered a nervous breakdown from stress, Nancy took it upon herself to help him recover only they didn’t have the money. Nancy turned to an old college friend, Kent Watkins, to borrow the money so she could whisk Tom away to a resort where he find his way to recovery. Kent agreed to loan her the money and ever since, Nancy has slowly paid him back. All of this was done behind Tom’s back. Nancy knew Tom wouldn’t like the idea of borrowing money. Now that Kent has been terminated, his financial security is threatened, and he demands Nancy pay him what she owes in full or he’ll tell Tom everything. Nancy has nowhere to turn until another old friend comes to town. Kathy Linden. Kathy is looking for a job and Nancy promises to help her find one with Tom at his hedge fund, but she enlists Kathy’s help with the Kent situation. As Nancy’s world crumbles all around her, she realizes that there isn’t a place for her in this life and must decide between living the lie or choosing a different path.

The Writer: Michael Field

My Why I grew up loving the cinema. I still do. That love spurned me towards storytelling. At first, I started out as an actor and soon realized, while I enjoy it, I prefer creating the story and not just being part of it and I've been telling stories for over 20 years. When we all start watching movies and television shows and we find the ones we love, we really don't know why. But my desire to become a storyteller forced me to realize that without story, without great writing, all those movies wouldn't last. It's the story that keeps the great ones with us for our lives. My Work I directed a feature I penned in 2005 titled, "Save the Forest", which enjoyed a small run on Netflix as well… Go to bio
