Synopsis/Details
Loosely based on a true story, ‘Cooze’ is a half-hour dramedy pilot about a flawed divorced, childless, older woman about to turn fifty, tackling the tiny tragic steps she’s taken to her rebirth at mid-life. With seventeen percent of adult women are happily childless and over forty percent not even interested in an adult relationship, singlehood isn’t just a transitional state for women over fifty anymore; it’s a lifestyle norm. This series portrays one regular woman, whose restart after divorce isn’t to fall in love, have another relationship, grow old with someone -- but rather to fully commit to making her lifetime career dreams come true. She’ll tenaciously go after stand-up comedy and television screenwriting, while at the same time battling constant health issues, counterattacking those who want to shame her for being a sexual being and the never-ending saga of ageism. This story and these characters honor the hard, universal choices all women of a certain age have to make in order to maintain their survival in the modern age – economically, socially, personally, professionally – through one woman’s life. In the end, the journey of letting go of what she thought she should be will reveal the person she was always meant to be.
