Synopsis/Details

Colony is a contained sci-fi horror thriller set aboard a deteriorating deep-space research vessel stranded beyond Earth’s reach. With their relief crew indefinitely delayed, a small team of astronauts struggles to maintain discipline as isolation and fatigue take hold.

Their mission: study a highly advanced species of ants—selected for their extraordinary ability to function as a unified organism. Led by Dr. Ellis, the experiment explores how collective intelligence might one day help humanity survive beyond Earth.

But when a microscopic containment breach releases the ants into the ship, the crew quickly realizes they are no longer dealing with insects.

The ants adapt.

They organize.

They learn.

What begins as a minor infestation escalates into a terrifying takeover, as the colony infiltrates the ship’s systems—regulating oxygen, targeting power, and isolating the crew with chilling precision. Attempts to contain or destroy them fail. Every human strategy only accelerates their evolution.

As the crew is hunted—not randomly, but strategically—their commander makes an unthinkable decision: the ship must be destroyed before the colony reaches Earth.

With only one escape pod and no time left, survival becomes sacrifice.

But in the vast silence of space, extinction is never guaranteed.

The Writer: Gary Rose

I’m an multi-optioned screenwriter who, in a previous life, served as a police detective, mastering the delicate art of negotiating hostage situations. Retirement led me down a different path—teaching and writing—a journey that began with my first non-fiction book, which became an Amazon best-seller. That success ignited my passion for storytelling and introduced the world to my indomitable protagonist, FBI agent Jeannie Loomis. Believing that the ends justify the means, Jeannie has become the heart of a gripping 18-novel thriller series. My historical fiction script The Beautiful Beast was selected as a quarter-finalist in the 2025 PAGE competition. The Phantom Train script was selected in… Go to bio
