Synopsis/Details

Alicia Weights has spent most of her life protecting her younger brother, Troy. Growing up with a drug-addicted mother, Alicia learned early that if she wanted Troy to be safe, she had to protect him herself. Even when the siblings were eventually separated, Alicia never forgot the promise she made to always be there for him.

As an adult, Alicia has built a successful life and career as a social worker, spending her days protecting vulnerable children. But the most important relationship in her life remains the one she has with Troy. They survived a difficult childhood together, and Alicia believes no one knows or understands her brother the way she does.

Then Troy meets Stacy.

Beautiful, independent, and confident, Stacy quickly becomes an important part of Troy's life. As their relationship grows more serious, Alicia begins to feel her brother pulling away. He calls less. He has less time for her. The routines they have shared for years begin to change. Troy sees it as moving forward with his life. Alicia sees it as losing the person she has spent her entire life protecting.

When Troy announces that he plans to marry Stacy, Alicia makes her disapproval clear. She questions whether Stacy truly knows him and pushes Troy to reconsider. Stacy attempts to make peace with Alicia, hoping the two women can eventually become close, but Alicia has no interest in sharing the place she has always held in Troy's life.

Troy and Stacy marry anyway.

After the wedding, the relationship between Alicia and Troy becomes increasingly strained. Troy expects his sister to respect his marriage and the boundaries that come with it. Alicia can't understand why his marriage should change their relationship. The more distance Troy creates, the more determined she becomes to hold on to him.

What begins as unwelcome interference soon becomes deliberate manipulation. Alicia reaches into Troy's past, exploiting old relationships and old wounds in an attempt to create problems between him and Stacy. She convinces herself that she isn't trying to destroy her brother's marriage, she's trying to make him see what she already knows: Stacy isn't right for him.

But nothing works.

Troy continues to choose his wife, and Alicia's carefully controlled exterior begins to fracture. Her behavior grows increasingly intrusive and unpredictable as the possibility of losing Troy becomes unbearable. Alicia has spent her entire life believing that protecting her brother is part of who she is. Now, for the first time, Troy neither wants nor needs her protection.

Caught between the sister who helped him survive their childhood and the woman he loves, Troy can no longer ignore the damage Alicia is causing. But to Alicia, Troy choosing Stacy means something very different. It feels like he is choosing a life without her.

And Alicia isn't prepared to let that happen.

Resentment becomes manipulation. Manipulation becomes obsession. And eventually, Alicia crosses a line she can't take back, forcing Troy and Stacy to confront just how far she is willing to go to preserve the bond she believes belongs to her.

For Alicia, the line between loving her brother and needing to possess a place in his life has become dangerously blurred.
