An Official Navy-Marine Joint Presentation gone horribly wrong. It’s a high-pressure, contained farce that pits the kinetic, life-or-death reality of the Marine Corps against the hyper-literal, administrative stalling tactics of the Navy.
SYNOPSIS
In a cramped LHD Ready Room, LTJG Mike Druthers and LTJG Jason Turnbull stare in horror at a blue Windows logo. Their PowerPoint, "MEB_Assault_FINAL_v4.ppt," is completely dead. Rear Admiral Hollins and Brigadier General Blake—flanked by a heavily caffeinated Marine Expeditionary Brigade planning staff—march in, expecting a flawless joint-operations brief.
Mike confidently decides to "brief from the heart". Utilizing an upside-down folder and a laser pointer, Mike attempts to baffle the Marines with bureaucratic buzzwords, while Jason, terrified and strictly literal, just reports the factual state of the ocean. When pressed on kinetic strategy and shaping fires, the lieutenants claim they plan to rust the enemy's weapons with salt spray and defeat a fortified bunker by declaring it a "navigational hazard". General Blake quietly closes his green binder, cancels all naval support, and orders his Marines to "go in slick," effectively ending the officers' careers on the spot. Stripped of their duties, Mike and Jason find themselves in the passageway, wondering if they should apply to drive for a Boston Duck Boat company.
