Synopsis/Details
"In the future, everybody will be famous for fifteen minutes." - Andy Warhol.
Beerbohm is a theatre cat with a dream: to move out from the shadows of backstage and become the star of the show. Problem is, The Actor is not ready to give up the limelight - especially to a cat.
Factual information which this short script is inspired by:
Beerbohm was a real-life theatre cat who resided in the Globe theatre in London's west end in the 1970's. He made a habit of gracing the stage during performances and attacking props backstage. When he passed away in the early 90's, he became the first and only theatre cat ever to be honoured with a front page obituary on The Stage magazine. The story made national news in the UK and was covered in various national newspapers. Beerbohm's portrait hangs in the Gielgud Theatre (after the Globe was renamed) to this day where he has become part of theatre folklore.
