SYNOPSIS:
ACT 1
RUBY attends a prestigious college. She is smart, athletic, beautiful and full of idealism. Always told she can do anything. She plays rugby with beloved teammates and wants to be useful and productive, not get married right out of school like her mother.

On holiday break, she goes with her family, ISSAC, TIFFANY and THOMAS, to a very exclusive gated community in Mexico. Their house is luxurious with staff but there is poverty surrounding the enclosed community.

The resort complex is taken over by a charismatic revolutionary RODRIGO, his sister BLANCO, and his soldiers. Ruby, her family, and other families are held hostage as Rodrigo demands a discontinuation of corporate pollution, divestiture of company assets, return of stolen lands, and an end to American support to corrupt officials. The US and Mexican government execute a rescue. The complex is secured and everyone is extracted except for Ruby who is taken into the jungle by Rodrigo.

ACT 2
Held in a jungle camp, Ruby is slowly introduced to the group and indoctrinated to their cause. Rodrigo and Blanco try to turn her against her father, showing the true costs of his factories in the northern regions. Roused one night to help bandage children whose skin has been burned by acid, she learns it is her father’s factory that pollutes the water. Exposed to the inequality of the villagers’ lives and what they fight for, she begins to understand and believe in their cause.

She and Rodrigo work together to help villages get clean water, food, clothing, and makeshift schools. They become closer, and Ruby becomes his lover. Rodrigo runs a very Zelensky-esque online campaign, Ruby uses social media to amplify his message. She posts, asking her father to help the villages that he has polluted, which immediately goes viral. Rodrigo and Ruby turn into the social media It Couple.

Ruby’s father negotiates with the U.S. government to get her back home. Using all of his power, money and influence to broker a deal, Ruby is rescued In a daring extraction, and Rodrigo is killed.

Back home, Ruby is defiant. She still believes in Rodrigo’s cause and blames her father for his death. She posts support for Rodrigo and rails against her father, exposing the truth about his companies. Ruby’s father has her held under a self-harm 5150, first for a few days, then extended weeks, ultimately turning it into an all inclusive conservatorship. Her Rugby teammates start a campaign #FreeRuby.
While in the institution, they discover she is pregnant unbeknownst to her. She is given abortion pills and an IUD inserted without her consent.

Finally Ruby gets out but only to live at home under strict monitoring by her parents and a team of handlers. She resigns herself to a life managed by others, where she is a good girl who makes no trouble. Slowly she gains her family’s trust and returns to a limited schedule of school and grooming to run the family office charity arm. Her mother works to set her up for a "perfect" marriage to DAVID. Ruby is on a plan and her life is going smoothly. She will marry the "right" guy, have children, go on family vacations to beautiful places, and have a picture perfect life.

The #FreeRuby campaign gains momentum in the press and public opinion. With unwanted scrutiny towards his companies, Isaac is forced to release Ruby due to an upwell of outside pressure and a counter suit in court. Ruby finally gets her conservatorship removed and she celebrates with David and her friends. At the party,

Ruby and David get engaged. The party is interrupted as everyone watches in shock at the breaking news of the SCOTUS Dobbs decision.
