anyone else have this issue?
i was chatting to a (an?) SR member after agreeing to read their short, and they told me they'd granted permission for me to download it
now as this was the first time i've requested a read – i know, not very community-minded of me – i didn't know how to download the script – so i went to the FAQs, where i learned i'd get an email with a link ... the email never came – and yes, i checked my spam folder (the member ended up emailing me the script)
but it gets odder – reading on, in the FAQs, i see this: When you download a script, an email is sent to the writer informing them who has downloaded it. – now, i've had a few scripts downloaded and read ... and have i have never received any of these emails
which makes me wonder, what else haven't i received?

I know one other member who's reported a similar issue this month. I have been looking into it. There's some pretty major development work coming up, and I'm hoping to iron out any bugs during that.
cool – thanks for that
I'm getting several downloads this week. I always make sure each screenplay has a poster. I think that helps attract attention.
ah, a slight misunderstanding – i'm getting requests and people are downloading scripts ... i just don't get the notification when a script is downloaded
Hi Robert.
I've had maybe a dozen read requests but only two download notifications. Both of those were for scripts requested by one member. The other ten were all requested by a different member.
My guess is the guy who requested access to ten of my scripts never actually followed through and viewed any of them. Either that or the download notification doesn't work for all members.
that may well be the case in some instances – but i've gone to have discussions about the downloaded script, so i know they've read it, but i never go the alert
Robert, I've had the same situation with no notification a few times now.
Somebody who requested access to a script later messages me asking for a copy of it (I disable copying of my Google Drive content) and thus they've obviously seen the script after I authorized their original request. But I received no notification of it.
In other cases I have received the notification from members who requested (and were granted) access, so I don't know why it works in some instances but not in others.
so ... the problem is 'solved' – following CJ's suggestion, i changed my email address in my profile and the notifications began to flow in – huzzah! – the original address was linked to my (squarespace) website and accessed through gmail – the "new" address is my old email which i use for day-today stuff, and is through my telco – not ideal, but i'll take it
