Am I correct, in the assertion of my subject line?
Here's something I've been working on for a few months. I'm happy to get into more detail if anybody's interested. I'm sure, if some positive sales numbers come in, everyone will want to know ALL of the details!
Briefly, as an adjunct to trying all tradition routes for getting my scripts produced, for years I'd published my scripts (modified slightly for a generic audience) on Amazon.com and also Kobo.com. However, getting sales there has been just about as hard as finding producers or agents/managers or financiers to help turn my scripts into feature films.
I thought "why not sort of combine the two?" Even for projects in which I invested thousands of dollars to do up budgets, schedules and sales forecasts, everybody's told me that they'd only come aboard if I provided equity, or capital of my own, or initial funding. It's all about the MONEY.
So, how about if I earned some initial capital myself, at the same time as gaining a measure of a pre-existing audience - which is pretty darned hard to obtain for spec scripts. What if I found a few hundred thousand bucks (or more, given the economy of scale of the Internet!) and at the same time generated an even greater number of readers of the material who will then be hankering to see the film?
Not having any sort of social media following myself, the experimental solution I came up with was to search far and wide on YouTube and find YTers with vast followings for "similar" material and see if I could get somebody to do either a sponsorship piece, or an ad placement, or even better a short dedicated video to promote my work. Of course, this would be for pay, to the YTer.
It took months - why don't people want to take my money?! - but I found somebody and here's the result, published mere hours ago:

He's a Harry Potter YouTuber and the thought is that, if anybody likes Harry, they'll like my Beecroft Series of kids 'n monsters stories:

Essentially, Dean on YouTube is helping me by giving access to his half million subscribers, and maybe far more if the video crosses onto other folks' feeds. I'm giving away the first script eBook in my Beecroft series for FREE. Sure, that's a bit tough to take, but what good is 100% of nothing, which is what I'm making from the script or eBooks now?
Go check out his video and, from there, you can access the free eBook as well if you want to check it out. I'm not trying to make money off of anybody here, but I am simply sharing what one long-time writer and ScriptRevolution member is trying to do.

Good luck and god's speed with your project.
Thanks John. I've been pestering the video author to change the thumbnail. Something like this could make a big difference:
