Synopsis/Details
*Rain Dogs* is a sci-fi, horror feature about a small, estranged family desperately trying to escape from an isolated mountain range infested with vicious, invisible creatures. At first only their daughter can see them, until her parents discover that ‘anyone’ can see the creatures, but only when you make physical contact with them. Thankfully, this need not be direct physical contact, and can be achieved via an intermediary object, like a twig. This ‘conditional invisibility’ will provide audiences with both the dread of watching our family being stalked by invisible creatures, plus the shock when contact is made and they’re suddenly confronted by a creature, up close and snapping. However, the weird rules governing the creatures’ invisibility are only the beginning. On their trek, our family learn more and more about the creatures, discovering that they are weirder and more dangerous than they could’ve possibly imagined. Our family comprises of Dan, his estranged daughter Casey, and her mother Mo. Separated for years, Casey’s parents argue over her role in their escape, and how to protect her. Still traumatised by the event that lead to their separation, Dan tries to avoid getting too close Casey until, late in the story, that option is ripped away from him. Our family’s journey through the gloomy, violet-stained hills is filled with tension and dread, that then explode into moments of action or horror. Things only continue to escalate until our heroes, with both their lives and the fate of the universe hanging in the balance, are forced to confront the creatures head-on. --- learn more in the PITCH DECK – see below

The Writer: Robert Bruinewoud

Melbourne, Australia 1982. I submit my first "screenplay" (and I use the term very loosely) to the BBC. It was a hugely expensive Doctor Who saga. Needless to say, it wasn't picked up. You can read all about it here . Now, I’ve been advised that the above is not the way to sell myself as serious writer. I’m not sure why. The fact that any screenwriters’ first screenplay doesn’t sell is, I would’ve thought, to be expected and so not something anyone should hide. Nor is the fact that I’ve been writing screenplays (off and on) for forty years, something to be shy about. During that time I had my paying job (graphic designer and advertising art director) distracting me, but over those years I… Go to bio
